to me, one of the most devastating losses that we suffer, as we struggle for liberation, is that of our stories. when you’re fighting for your freedom, your life, your breath, recording your history is a luxury.

today i am celebrating all of the black folx who have loved me into existence. i am delighting in the stories that i do know. and asking my dad to tell me new ones. today i am celebrating the ones who have made my freedom possible.

i am, because you were. and it is my privilege and my honor to tell our stories.
